How does the system work with the different starting blocks?

The Spartan Races start in waves. That means we let a group of athletes into the race in one starting block at regular intervals (e.g. 250 starters every 30 minutes). During the registration you can choose a period for your start. As soon as the maximum number of starters is reached for this period, the respective starting block will be closed. Then you can no longer select this when registering, but have to choose another. So register in good time to secure your preferred starting wave. The size of the starting blocks and the number of starting places per starting block depend on the route and the number of starters in each race.

The first wave is the so-called Elite Heat. This is usually the first starting block of the day and this is where the fastest, toughest and most motivated of you will open the course. All other waves then start at regular intervals thereafter.
